The farm was granted in 1712. Willem van As built the manor house. (under correction)

Formerly owned by Casparus Johannes Bosman (1813 Stellenbosch - 1894 Redelinghuys). It was one of the farms where tin was discovered in 1903.
  • Casparus Bosman, married to Hessie, was the father of Jacobus Petrus (Koos) Bosman who fought in the Second Boer War. Koos was sentenced to death for his war activities, but was then released after a brief prison sentence.

Its first ordained missionaries were dispatched to South Africa by year's end, where they began work in various towns, focusing on conversion to Christianity and community support. In 1829, the Society founded its first congregation in Stellenbosch, with Reverend Paul Daniel Lückhoff as the initial minister. Full name:  Major Robert Oliver Godfray Lys Lifespan:  1860 The Eyrie, Pretoria - 1936 Johannesburg Occupation:  Prospector, military officer Wife:   Phyllis Bruce Taylor  (1863 Pretoria - c.1930) married in 1888, in Johannesburg. Godfray Lys Timeline Biography He was the only son (with four sisters) of John Robert Lys and Olivia Selina Fry.
