The church was inaugurated in October 1975. Since the founding of the congregation in 1952, there had already been ideals of owning its own church building. However, a church hall was built first, which was commissioned on 23 October 1954. Over the years, the need for a large and effective church building grew increasingly greater.
At the beginning of this decade, the congregation's intention to build a church took concrete form when the architects Vermooten, Du Plooy and Baker were approached to draw up building plans for a church to be built next to the old church hall. It was then also decided to simultaneously convert the old church hall into an effective hall for congregational and other functions.
Towards the middle of July 1974, the N.H.W. Builders made a start on the construction of this complex. On 16 November 1974, the laying of the cornerstone took place, and fifteen months after the commencement of construction, the project was completed.
A commemorative plaque was also unveiled at the reconstructed hall by Rev. N. H. Buitenweg, who had laid the cornerstone of the hall 21 years earlier.¹
