On 30 July 1972, the Tygerberg congregation was established (seceded) from Cape Town, along with the congregations of Bellville, Wynberg, and Stellenbosch. The congregation did not have a church building in the Tygerberg area. A hall was rented from the municipality, which was used for approximately seven years. At the time of the secession, construction on the church building in the municipal area of Parow was already far advanced. This town was the most accessible for the entire Tygerberg region. Construction was completed in March 1973.¹
